Getting Here

activity centreCraggan Outdoors – BEST OUTDOOR ADVENTURE EXPERIENCE in the Scottish Outdoor Leisure Awards 2019 – is conveniently located and easy to find, right beside the A95 1 mile south of Grantown-on-Spey, just 15 minutes north from Aviemore, 45 minutes from Inverness, 2 hours from Aberdeen, & less than 3 hours from the Central Belt. Public transport links are some of the best in the Highlands, with buses running to Grantown-on-Spey – friendly drivers have been known to stop especially to drop people off at the top of our drive – and trains to nearby Aviemore. There is a bus stop right outside the station for onward buses to Grantown, aswell as a taxi rank.

If looking to book a taxi for bringing you to &/or pick up from Craggan Outdoors, then Grantown-based Lindsay Jack operates a number of different size minibuses which can be booked on 01479 872675 or 07821 111925. Also in Grantown is Woodlands Service Centre which operates a number of 7 to 16 seat vehicles for private hire. Aviemore-based Bremners – 01479 812322 – also have a range of different size minibuses & coaches (NOTE: they won’t pick up & drop-off at our Glenbeg accommodation if using a full-size coach, & will drop off at the roadside rather than in car park if coming to the activity centre), and Weirs of Aviemore – 01479 810141 – have a fleet of 7 and 8 seaters. Another option with an 8-seater is Gerry’s Aviemore Taxi on 01479 849072 or 07515 001569 who offer a 10% discount to Craggan Outdoors’ customers that identify themselves as such at time of booking. And if looking for an outdoor specialist transfer company, complete with their own canoe & bike trailers, then check out Highland Yaks. If coming from Inverness, then try Inverness Minibus Hire on 01463 800900 or 07841 679702.

Broomhill Station (the location for Glenbogle Station in the BBC’s ‘Monarch of the Glen’) on the Strathspey Steam Railway is also just 5 minutes away. The River Spey and Speyside Way both run right past the golf course and the Dava Way is nearby, so we are also easily accessible for those on foot or bike, and paddlers for that matter.

For those coming in from further afield, Craggan Outdoors is only 45 minutes from Inverness Airport. Inverness is well served by a number of airlines, particularly easyJet and FlyBe which both offer good value flights from across southern England, including Gatwick, Luton, Southampton, Bristol and Exeter. FlyBe also operate services from Amsterdam.

Please see our map below or find us on Google Maps. Our postcode is PH26 3NT, but as this covers a wide area and different systems can direct to varying places, we do suggest not to rely solely on satnav, but that a bit of common sense is employed once you get close. It’s amazing how many people drive right past the highly visible golf course, kayaking pond, and big purple signs because the satnav told them to go somewhere else. If your satnav tells you to go anywhere other than turning in at the big purple Craggan Outdoors sign, then stop following it & turn in at the sign instead! Please also do not scan-read our address as ‘Grantown-on-Spey’ & ‘golf course’ or ‘club’ & then put this in your satnav / GoogleMaps, as you’ll end up at Grantown Golf Course, & that’s not where we are or where you want to be!

Please note that if you’re coming to our Glenbeg Bunkhouse and Bothy, these are located at Glenbeg, 1.5 miles up the hill on the other side of the A95 from Craggan Outdoors’ main site, but still sharing the same postcode. If you zoom in on the Google map, you will see Glenbeg to the west / left of Grantown-on-Spey, and northwest of the main Craggan Outdoors site. Owing to the opportunity for confusion / getting lost / knocking on our neighbours doors to get directions – which annoys them greatly & they give us grief – we generally arrange to ‘meet and greet’ guests and show them up to the accommodation, but also have directions available for people coming late and / or in multiple vehicles at different times. These arrangements will be made with the group organiser.

For Ardenbeg Bunkhouse, head into Grantown-on-Spey, and Ardenbeg is then easy to find on Grant Road, just one road back / west from the High Street. Easiest access is off the High Street via Chapel Road (the turning next to Lloyds Chemist) or Seafield Avenue (the turning beside the Co-op), & you’ll then find Ardenbeg situated between the turning for Coppice Court and Mackay Avenue. Full address is Ardenbeg, Grant Road, Grantown-on-Spey PH26 3LD.

If coming by car / minibus / motorbike, there is off-street parking for a number of vehicles – how many depends upon vehicle sizes and how others have already parked – in the grounds of Ardenbeg, and further on-street parking is available in Coppice Court, Mackay Avenue or Chapel Road. Please do not park immediately in front of Ardenbeg as this can block vehicle access to our neighbours’ properties across the road. Thanks!
